Even though optical media is decreasing in popularity for more convenient streaming services, it can't truly show off the quality of 4K content as a UHD Blu-Ray disc does. 4K Blu-Ray has the advantage of massive localized data that can pump out pure image information to the viewer regardless of internet speed. This amount of data is also beneficial to non-4K TVs that would have HDR capabilities (theoretically). 4K resolution, simplified, is how big of a box your image is, you still need data to fill in that box with a rich image and you have to do that consistently for 24-60 frames-per-second which can be considered "bit-rate". Consider this, you can perceive better picture quality watching a movie like "The Avengers" on a 1080p Blu-Ray than you could streaming the same movie on a 4K TV on Netflix. As new streaming video standards such as H.265 and overall increases to internet speeds emerge, streaming media will eventually catch up to 4K Blu-Ray. Until this time comes, if you consider yourself a movie aficionado, do yourself a favour and give UHD Blu-Ray a chance.
